The village of Bream is situated on the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean and lies on the B4231, between Lydney (2 miles) and Coleford (4 miles). 17 miles south west of Gloucester, 12 miles north east of Chepstow and 11 miles south east of Monmouth.
Bream’s main street has various shops, including a grocery store, butchers and newsagents. There are 2 public houses, the closest of which (The Rising Sun), has both a bar & restaurant menu and offers regional ales. There is also a Chinese Takeaway, Fish & Chip shop, Post Office and Doctors’ surgery. For those of you preferring to watch sport rather than take part, Bream has both a rugby and cricket club.
Directions from Gloucester
Take the A40 from Gloucester, direction Ross-on-Wye, then the A48 direction Chepstow. A couple of miles after Blakeney take the right turn, direction Lydney. Go through Lydney centre and after the train tracks take your 1st right, B4231 (Bream Road), direction Coleford. When you arrive in Bream, take the 2nd road on your right (High Street). At the top of the hill, opposite the ‘Rising Sun’ pub, turn left (New Road) and we’re the 1st house on your left.
Directions from Chepstow
Take the A48 out of Chepstow, direction Gloucester, and after about 12 miles you’ll arrive in Lydney. Just after Tesco, turn left on to the B4231 (Bream Road), direction Coleford. When you arrive in Bream, take the 2nd road on your right (High Street). At the top of the hill, opposite the ‘Rising Sun’ pub, turn left (New Road) and we’re the 1st house on your left.
Directions from Monmouth
Turn off the A40 onto the A466, direction Chepstow. After the bridge, take the 1st left, B4136 direction Coleford. Carry on through Staunton and turn right at the traffic lights, B4228 direction Coleford. Go straight through the main traffic lights in Coleford and continue on that road until you leave the town and pass the Orepool pub on your left. Watch out for the left turning, direction Lydney, B4231 (Coleford Road). On entering Bream, take the 1st left (New Road) and we’re the last house on the right.
